"Let us not seek the Republican answer or the Democratic answer, but the right answer."- John F. Kennedy Today in his New Hampshire town hall speech President Obama declared that "Democrats can't do this alone.” It was a not to long ago when Rush Limbaugh, spoke for the Republican Party, when he declared: "I want him to fail.” Why? Many Democrats argue that Republicans care more about their party than their country. Democrats argue that Republicans can’t stand the idea that President Obama might actually fix the Country’s ailing economy and get credit for it.
Speaking today President Obama earned a standing ovation when he restated his goal of an ambitious remake of the nation's health care system.” We got to get it done," Obama said as loud cheers and sustained applause drowned him out. "Let's get it done this year.”
Today it became painfully obvious that if Obama fails, and the nation’s economy and health care fails Obama is prepared to place the blame on the uncooperative Republican Senate. Didn't Republicans learn anything under Bill Clinton? In 1993, facing a much milder economic downturn, President Clinton crafted his own economic recovery plan and also reached out for bipartisan support. But Republicans refused to cooperate. Newt Gingrich warned that Clinton's plan would create a deep recession. So Clinton, had to settle for enacting an economic plan with not one Republican vote. Now Obama does not have the majority of the Senate. So Obama has resulted in the blame game.
Obama stated, "They've found a way to have their cake and vote against it too.” "It's one thing to have an honest difference of opinion on something," Obama said. "It's another to walk away from your responsibilities to confront the challenges facing this country because you think it's good short-term politics."
